Alpine Ski Team at the US Collegiate Race

Alpine Ski at the US Collegiate RaceThe United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) hosted their first race of the season at Camelback Mountain in Tannersville, PA. The USMA Alpine Ski Team took 14 competitors to the event. The team had a good showing in all discipline despite the harsh conditions present over the weekend. The weather on Friday was 60 degrees and raining, followed by 20 degrees on Saturday, which resulted in icy conditions and the cancellation of the Slopestyle competition. The men finished 3rd & 2nd in Giant Slalom and Slalom respectively. Leading the way in GS was Sawyer Harkins ’18, with a 3rd place finish and a run of 35.61. Yale Flanagan ’20, finished 5th in Slalom with a combined time of 1:13.81. On the women’s side Blaise Paulo ’18, was quickest on both runs with an 8th place finish in GS at 42.18, and 14th in Slalom with a combined time of 1:51.91. In Freestyle Skiing, Aidan McCarthy ’20, took 2nd in Rail Jam, and Julia Coon placed 1st in Rail Jam in women’s freestyle Snowboarding.
