Firstie Briyah Brown of the Army West Point women's track and field team has earned Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week honors and was named AWPAA athlete of the week. These honors come after Brown's remarkable performance at the Penn 8-Team Select on Saturday, Jan.20, where she claimed first place in both the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, Brown threw for a distance of 14.68m, which was an ECAC qualifying distance. In the weight throw, she threw for as distance of 18.61m, also an ECAC qualifying distance, and a personal record for the New Rochelle, N.Y., native. This distance also broke the school record of 17.99m set by Heather Lawson at the Army-Navy Star meet in 1999.
