Fencing NYC Outreach and Relay

The Fencing Team traveled to New York City to take part in their annual NYC Outreach and Relay in the CUNY Athletic system. The Homecoming event is a large CUNY sponsored event for all varsity sports, and the Fencing Team is the only one selected for the sport of Fencing to participate by invitation of Hunter College. Cadets from the team sang the National Anthem as a group for the Hunter College event including Adam Knapp, Taylor Krug, Callie Peace, Toni Blanco, Jen Gankhuyag, Caleb Kifer, David Medina and Rebecca Weigel. Cadets also performed a fencing exhibition for NYC residents and spectators at the CUNY wide event. The 45 Point Relay took place between the Army West Point Team and Hunter College Team to determine the top Ironmen and Ironwomen in each weapon – beating their opponents by the widest margins and making up the most points in a deficit over a 45-minute period. The Champions from West Point were: Cadets Vaughn Johnson in Men' Epee; Rebecca Weigel in Women's Epee; Dan Kurtzahn in Men's Foil; Rachel Pennington in Women's Foil; Chris Papa in Men's Sabre; Taylor Sharpsten in Women's Sabre.
