Firsties Ellie Petersen of the Army West Point volleyball team and David Baker of the Army West Point sprint football team were named the Corps Squad Scholar Athletes of the Month for November on Friday. Cadet Petersen currently maintains a 3.295 cumulative GPA as an Economics major, which is the highest player GPA on the team's roster. She has made the Dean's List in each of her six semesters. Petersen has shared her mastery of economics with her teammates as well. She attends team study sessions to help tutor yearlings in the core curriculum class and helps to organize study sessions while the team travels. Baker currently maintains a 3.645 cumulative grade-point average as a Civil Engineering major. He is a two-year player on the sprint football team and his hard work landed him as a starter for the Black Knights as a guard. Cadet Baker holds one of the highest leadership positions in the Corps as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major (CSM).
