VTC Briefing on Power Restoration in Puerto Rico

COL John Lloyd, Commander of Task Force Power Restoration in Puerto Rico spoke to the Electrical Power Engineering course and several members of the EECS faculty. He provided unique insights for cadets into both the technical and leadership challenges of such a tremendous undertaking. He enlightened the audience to the incredible scale of the damage caused by hurricane Maria and summarized the USACE response efforts. COL Lloyd provided practical examples about the importance of power system stability, modeling, and resiliency that closely link with course objectives. Additionally, he fielded general questions about USACE, leading large organizations, and serving as an Engineer Officer.
