The Center for the Study of Civil-Military Operations hosted Mr. Michael Novogratz, the CEO of Galaxy IP. Galaxy is in the ground stages of a $500M capital raise to open the world’s largest investment fund in crypto-currencies. Mr. Novogratz lectured to the students of, the Geography of Sub-Saharan Africa. He talked about the competing sides of macro/micro investments in the economies of African countries. He also explained how a crypto-currency protected by the power of Blockchaining could help to alleviate the rampant destructive effects of corruption and bad-governance in many of the Africa countries. He also spoke of his recent travels to the African continent and experiences on the board of his sister’s Acumen Fund. Acumen’s “Patient Capital” approach invests heavily in African small business and has great success in promoting economic and political reform in its target countries.
