Monken Named Semifinalist for Munger Award

Coach MonkenArmy West Point football head coach Jeff Monken was announced as a 2017 semifinalist for the George Munger Award by the Maxwell Football Club for national coach of the year. The list includes a field of 16 candidates for the award who have been selected by the MFC National Selection Committee. Monken has led the Black Knights to an 8-2 record this season and Army is currently riding a six-game winning streak heading into its clash with North Texas on Saturday. It is the longest winning streak for the Cadets since the 1996 season. The Black Knights have won eight games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1984 and 1985. Monken has guided Army to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in more than 30 years. The Black Knights went 2-10 in 2015 and since that season, Army has won 16-of-23 games, and has beaten Air Force and Navy during that stretch. Semifinalist voting for the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year award will begin on Friday, Nov. 17 and close on Monday, Dec. 11.
