The Army West Point women's and men's swimming and diving opened the 2017-18 home slate with convincing 195-103 and 193.5-105.5 victories over UMass on Friday night at Crandall Pool. Monica Sowinski placed first in the 100 (53.03) and 200 (1:54.27) free, while also taking second in the 500 free with a time of 5:11.26. Jenna Forrester and Bailey Smith tied for first in the 50 free after finishing at 24.37. Smith would go on to also place first in the 200 backstroke at 2:04.27. Evin Rude placed first in the 100 (45.86) and 200 (1:40.06) free. Kevin Doo took the top spot in the 100 (48.77) and 200 (1:52.34) fly. In the diving well, Hudson Kay came out on top in the one-meter (275.70) and in the three-meter (295.05).
