CLS Supports STEM Outreach in Texas

CLS supported a renewable energy workshop led by the Center for Leadership and Diversity in STEM which was held at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, TX. Cadets and faculty worked with 30 middle-school students. Using teamwork and hands-on activities, the workshop exposed students to the benefits and challenges of deploying wind-power technology. CPT Onwuanumkpe, along with MAJ Motupalli (Systems Engineering) and Mrs. Sheetz (Math) facilitated the workshop and guided student teams to design, test performance and asses manufacture costs of a miniature wind-turbine. The workshop provided an enriching experience that encourages students to develop interest in STEM education and career.
