Fencing Takes First at Annual Invitational

Clik here to view.The Army West Point Fencing Team hosted their annual Invitational in Arvin and took First Place as the only undefeated team in the tournament. The Women’s Team went 2-0 defeating City College of NY (19-8) and Hunter College (21-6). CDT Claudia Sun won the individual tournament taking first place, being the only undefeated athlete in the competition across both genders, with a record of 6-0. Other Women with standout records in the invitational included a group of 5-1 record holders: CDTs Pennington, Lin, Weigel, and Yang; CDT Sharpsten was 4-2 for the day. Both Women’s Weapon Squads in Foil and Epee also took first place going undefeated. On the Men’s side of the tournament, they defeated Hunter College by a score of 19-8. CDTs Noah Kambili and Cody West finished with 3-0 records - the top scorers in the men’s tournament. Both Men’s Sabre and Foil Weapon Squads came out on top defeating their rival. CDTs Griffin and Kurtzahn finished at 2-0 in the weapon of Foil, while CDT Papa was 2-1 in the weapon of Sabre.
