Cadet Soldier Centric SE Project 2

The second project briefing summarized work to date on a small unit energy consumption model. This model builds energy consumption estimates from validated operational mission summaries for small units, energy consumption specifications collected on Soldier equipment, and equipment configuration profiles. The model also considers power generation equipment and tactical power charging opportunities. Progress to date includes a prototype model written in python with an Excel based user interface and data configuration file. The model has been designed in a scalable manner, capable of adapting to changes in mission summaries, equipment configurations, and equipment energy consumption specifications. The project team has benefited from numerous meetings with engineers and scientists from the Natick Soldier RDEC, the Naval Surface Warfare Center (Dahlgren), the Maneuver Center of Excellence, and PEO Soldier. PM SWAR intends to use this model to support battery load estimates for future equipment ensembles. The small unit energy consumption model cadet capstone team includes Cadets Larry, Malm-Annan, Maldonado, and Arcilla.
