The Center for Leadership and Diversity in STEM traveled to Mulberry and Largo, FL to conduct two STEM Workshops for the College for Every Student Program. In all, 79 middle school students attended the workshops to design and program “portable unmanned ground vehicles.” The students first received a presentation on the benefits of pursuing STEM education and how USMA, the Nation’s first school of engineering, teaches those skills to cadets. CDTs Horne and Chick spent the remainder of the morning assisting the students in building their “unmanned ground vehicles.” The afternoon witnessed the students attempting to navigate an obstacle course. Small prizes were awarded to the most exceptional students.
