Model UN Forum Travels to Oxford UniversityFive First Class Cadets of the United States Military Academy Model United Nations team traveled to Oxford University in the United Kingdom to participate in its prestigious OxIMUN conference. For the Firsties, this was an incredible opportunity both to explore London and Oxford, and to engage with college students from all over Europe and the world. Committees were intense, and included topics such as the Suffragette movement in 1913 Britain, facing off against the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of the time in a dynamic crisis simulation precluding World War I as well as a meeting of the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Assembly of the United Nations and a rare opportunity to represent the United States in the United Nations Security Council. At the end of the weekend, every member of the West Point team was individually recognized for excellence in his or her committee. This gave the USMA team the highest overall ratio of awardees/competitors in the small delegation category, making the team effectively the "Best" Small Delegation and solidifying their position as one of the most well-rounded and competitive teams not only in the United States, but in the world. Awards: CDT Bagdadi (Commendation, Cabinet of the British Prime Minister, 1913). CDT Arya (Diplomacy, Suffragette Movement of England, 1913). CDT Singh (Diplomacy, SOCHUM). CDT Engel (Commendation, UN Office for Outer Space Affairs). CDT Hogestyn (Honorable Mention, UNSC).
