The Climbing Team took six cadets and two instructors to the Shawangunks Mountain Range in New Paltz, NY, to participate in a day of out-door climbing. Building on the technical foundations learned in the indoor climbing gym, cadets were able to build anchor points atop the cliff, and then safely rappel down. In addition, cadets George ’19, Maddox ’19 and Cicci ’19, were able to test their strength and technique on multiple Top Ropes. Utilizing traditional climbing systems, placing gear and building anchors, Cadets Finch and Joiner were able to complete multi-pitch routes and use multiple rappels to descend safely to the ground.
