The Civil & Military Engineering Club traveled to Portland, OR for the annual ASCE National Convention. The trip section included eight cadets and three C&ME faculty. The cadets and faculty attended technical tours describing the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway and ending at the Bonneville Dam which is operated by USACE. Some cadets attended a tour of the bridges in Portland that span the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. At the conference, sessions included sustainability and infrastructure systems, engineering for social progress, operating the Columbia River hydropower system. Cadets also made contact with representatives from a new nuclear reactor being built near Dubai, setting up a site visit during our upcoming spring break trip.
