Systems Engineering Urban Beach Project

Two SE450 Project Teams comprised of three cadets each conducted their initial client meeting in New Your City for their semester-long project. Each team will spend the semester applying the skills they learned throughout the Systems Engineering Core Engineering Sequence to recommend an “Urban Beach” design for the Gansevoort Peninsula to the Hudson River Park Trust. The Gansevoort Peninsula is a stretch of land along the Hudson River between Pier 52 and Pier 53 that is currently not in use for the public. The Hudson River Park Trust wants to implement an “urban beach” concept that utilizes emerging trends in sustainable urbanization. The client for this project is the Columbia University’s Earth Institute.
