The Army West Point Tae Kwon Do team dominated the NCTA National Championships at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In the Men’s Color Belt Divisions (in various respective weight classes), CDT Eli Eichenberger took 1st and CDT Taylor Wing took 2nd in Red Belt Heavyweight sparring. CDT Ellis Valdez won 1st, CDT Cimingmao Lor won 2nd, and CDT Jackson Darash won 3rd in the Blue Belt Division. CDT Bradley Harrison and CDT Jason Viyar earned 2nd place medals and CDT John Mueller took 1st in Men’s Beginner Sparring. In the Women’s Color Belt Divisions, CDT Jennifer Huntley earned 3rd place and CDT Kristel Guino took 2nd in Women’s Beginner sparring. Both CDT’s Alexandra Baker and Kayla Johnson took 1st in their respective Women’s Beginner weight classes. Additionally, CDT Ellis Valdez won 3rd place in Blue Belt Forms and CDT Sarah Juhn won 3rd place in Women’s White Belt Forms. In the Black Belt divisions, CDT Wonha Kim took 2nd in Women’s Heavyweight, CDT Caleb Lim took 2nd in Men’s Heavyweight, and CDT Matthew Galea took 2nd in Men’s flyweight. At the end of the day, the Army Team won 3 bronze, 8 silver, and 5 gold medals, CDT’s Alexandra Baker, John Mueller, Ellis Valdez, and Eli Eichenberger holding NCTA National Champion titles.
