CENTER VALLEY, PA - Sophomore RHP Matt Ball and freshman second baseman Josh White of the Army West Point baseball team were recognized as the Patriot League's Pitcher and Rookie of the week, the league announced Monday afternoon. "They have both put in a lot of hard work and prepare well," said head coach Matt Reid. "They had good days and competed hard. Good things happen when you put in the effort, and this was a great example of that." Ball tossed a solid seven innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against UMass, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six to pick up his first win of the season.
White was a constant for the Black Knights at the dish, going seven-for-14 through four games. He smashed a triple to center in Wednesday's home opener against Hofstra for the team's second of the season. The Littleton, Colo., native has headed up with the weather since arriving in Florida, notching a pair of hits in all three games against UMass. White scored two runs while knocking in a couple of Cadets as well, while adding a double to his production against the Minutemen. He also reached base on two walks and a hit by pitch, bringing his weekly OBP to .588. Read More
