WEST POINT, NY - Junior goaltender Parker Gahagen was named to the Atlantic Hockey Second Team on Wednesday as the conference released its annual all-conference teams. Gahagen is Army's ninth second team all-conference player since the league began and the first since Marcel Alvarez in 2011. He is the first goalie since Josh Kassel to earn postseason honors as Kassel was honored in 2008 with a first-team nod. He posted a 2.23 goals against average and a .931 save percentage in league play.
He finished the second half of Atlantic Hockey play with an incredible 1.67 GAA and a .950 save percentage. Those numbers came in the final 14 games and he was 5-4-5 in those games. He gave up two or less goals in each of the 14 games. He achieved career highs in all goal tending categories, including wins with 12. He is the first goalie since Jay Clark in 2010 to record double-digit wins. He currently is on pace to finish second on the all-time list for goals against average in a single season and his .933 save percentage at this point in the year is the best in Academy history for a single season.
