CENTER VALLEY, PA - Firstie Chris Szekely of the Army West Point men's swimming and diving team has been named the Patriot League Swimmer of the Week after tallying three first-place finishes in the team's tri-meet sweep last Friday. "Chris has had a tremendous career with Army swimming and diving," said head coach Mickey Wender. "He is focused, committed and loves the sport. Chris has come a long way with his swimming, and is one of those people who elevates everyone around him. He has a very positive attitude and a tremendous work ethic.
"Chris is very smart about swimming and is interested in the developmental process. He has been fun to coach and we have worked well together to help him reach his full potential. I am looking forward to watching Chris race throughout the rest of the season and into the Olympic Trials." Szekely, who hails from Doylestown, PA, won two individual events and had a hand in the team's 200 medley relay win. He was the top finisher in the sprint events for Army by almost a second in each.
