DANBURY, CT - Earning third in the all-around competition of the 25th Annual West Point Open, Cole Casanova has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week. Casanova competed to a career-best score of 82.200 on the first night of competition, trailing only Dominic DiFulvio of Penn State (83.400) and Jonathan Tang (83.050) of Navy on the winner's podium. The rookie qualified for the individual finals on floor exercise with a score of 14.250 and placed in the top 10 on three events.
The Dallas, Texas native earned a 14.250 on floor to take eighth, 12.550 on pommel to tie for 24th, 13.800 on still rings to place 10th, 14.350 on vault to earn ninth, 13.650 on parallel bars to place 19th and 13.600 on high bar to tie for 16th. In the individual finals, Casanova earned a mark of 13.800 on floor exercise to place sixth. This is the first ECAC weekly honor for Casanova and the first of the 2016 season for the Black Knights.
