WEST POINT, NY - Chris Szekely of the Army West Point men's swimming and diving team has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Conference Swimmer of the Week for the Patriot League after racking up 45 points in back-to-back dual-meets. "Chris is wrapping up a stellar career for Army West Point swimming and diving," said head coach Mickey Wender. "He has been an integral part of the development of our program in and out of the pool for the past four years. He and the team are working very hard in preparation for the conference championships and beyond. The best is yet to come."
The Black Knights improved to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League with convincing wins over Lehigh, 191-91, and Bucknell, 174-117, at Crandall Pool. The Doylestown, Pa., native, won the 50 free and 100 free events on both days of competition. Against Bucknell, his 20.55 leg of the 200 medley relay helped Army start the meet with a first-place finish and was also the fastest 50 free time recorded at Crandall Pool throughout the weekend.
