The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) sent 16 Cadets and 1 OIC (from DSE) to New York City for a West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference (WPLEC) at the American Museum of Natural History. At the workshop, cadets mentored local NYC high school students in a variety of ethics-based exercises to help students realize the importance of ethical leadership. Primarily, cadets facilitated discussions on typical ethical dilemmas that high school students might face in their everyday lives. Cadets reinforced honorable living with personal examples of material learned during West Point ethical training. The Cadets also turned this trip into a learning and civ-mil relations opportunity by gaining free admission to the museum for two hours following the end of the conference. The Cadets interacted positively with various civilians inside the museum and even received free tickets to an educational IMAX film.
